The Wellington IV, Z1205 was fired upon by flak and exploded in the air. Large parts hit houses in Kyffhäuser Str, Moselstr. near the Südbahnhof. However, there was only minor damage to buildings.
The crew was ejected from the aircraft and found dead in the Horbell or Wesseling area and buried in Cologne's South Cemetery.
