289 aircraft attacked Cologne that day, including the HalifaxII, W1213 of the 103rd Sqd. It came under heavy flak, was hit and crashed in Disternich near Erp. The aircraft exploded on impact and all crew members were killed in the crash. They were buried in Cologne's South Cemetery.
