Blenheim R3620 took off in the night from West Raynham on a reconnaissance flight to the Ruhr area.
It came under heavy anti-aircraft fire in the area of the 2nd / Res. Flak Abt. 240 and the 1st / Res. Flak Abt. 270 and crashed near Buschbell near Frechen. The exact cause of the crash and the exact location of the crash cannot be determined at present.
The three-man crew died in the crash and were buried in Cologne's Südfriedhof cemetery.
