PB567
Crashes > of the R.A.F.
During the bombing raid on Cologne, the Lancaster, PB567, was lost over Cologne. There is no report from the anti-aircraft gunners that it was shot down, and no report from the night fighters that it was shot down that day. Nevertheless, the bodies of the crew were found on the outskirts of Cologne and in Hürth.
The PB567 was probably hit by its own bombs from a higher-flying bomber and exploded in the air.
Two crew members are still missing today, four others were buried in Cologne's West Cemetery. Another member of the crew was found in Hürth and buried there.
