Crashes > of the R.A.F.
The Lancaster BI, NG297 was probably hit by flak, crashed and burnt out completely. The exact location of the crash cannot be determined, it is assumed to be between Cologne-Bocklemünd and Widdersdorf.
It is also possible that NG297 was not hit by flak, but by parts of ND388 or NG397, both of which exploded in the air.
The death certificates of the crew state "Butzweilerhof" as the location. This information is almost certainly wrong. For this location is listed for all the dead of four aircraft recovered that day, even those that crashed many kilometres away.

There is no entry about the crash in the police report of that day.
