The Halifax II, JD175 came under the fire of several anti-aircraft batteries during the attack on Aachen. At the same time it was attacked by the night fighter Oblt. Wilhelm Telge, 5th / NJG1, suffered a wing fire and crashed from an altitude of around 5500 metres near Weisweiler station and burned out completely.
None of the crew survived the crash, all were recovered dead with severe burns and buried in the Cologne South Cemetery. Additional
