HR248
Crashes > of the R.A.F.
During a patrol flight with the mission of bombing railway installations and important infrastructure close to the border, the HR248 made contact with the ground while flying low.
The Mosquito crashed near the road between Garzweiler and Otzenrath, causing the aircraft to burn out completely.
The crew of the Mosquito died in the crash and were buried in the cemetery in Garzweiler and transferred to Rheinberg War Cemetery after the war.
I received further information from:
Sally Crook, New Zealand, Yannic Wethly and Aad Neeven, Netherlands. Many thanks for this!
