HK618

Crashes > of the R.A.F.

The Lancaster HK618 was hit by anti-aircraft fire during the approach to the Cologne Porz-Gremberg marshalling yard. The aircraft caught fire and the entire crew parachuted out. It is highly probable that the aircraft exploded in mid-air; the exact location of the crash cannot be determined.

The crew members came down in the area around Düren and were all taken prisoner of war by the Germans.
