Crashes > of the R.A.F.

During the bombing raid on Essen, the Lancaster, ED384 was hit by the flak searchlights of the FL.-Scheinw. Abt. 250 and the 3./FL.-Scheinw. Abt.648. This well-lit target came under fire from, among others, the 4./schw. Flak.Abt. 404.

Heavily hit, the Lancaster crashed about 8 kilometres east of Rheidt-Rommerskirchen, killing the entire crew. They were recovered and buried in Cologne's Südfriedhof cemetery.
