Crashes > of the R.A.F.

During the attack on Düsseldorf, the Wellington Ic, DV829 was caught by flak lights and fired upon by flak units.
To avoid the searchlights, the aircraft went into low-level flight and clipped a high-voltage pylon in the process.
It caught fire and crashed near Meschernich, near Brühl.
The crew was recovered dead from the wreckage of the plane with severe burns and buried in Cologne's southern cemetery.
