The Halifax V, DK166, was strafed and hit by heavy flak during the attack on Wuppertal. At an altitude of 6,000 feet, some of the crew parachuted. The aircraft lost altitude very quickly and crashed at around 01:33 between Junkersdorf and Lövenich, burning out completely. The exact location of the crash cannot be determined at present.
Three crew members were killed, the other four became German prisoners of war.
